Summer 2010 (according to Matilyn)

The summer started out with some wonderful news!!!

BOY, OH BOY!!!!!!!!! Mommy's having a boy! And I am going to be a Big Sister.

I played in the sprinkler

And I looked really, really pretty....

Should I be a model?

We had a great Memorial Day with Frexy, G, Lou and Boo, although somehow, mommy didn't get a picture of everybody....go figure.

I got my game on

And looked really cute!

And then everyone tried to look the "most" pregnant

I took swim lessons for the very first time, with my BFF Ada

I even jumped off the diving board

And swam to the side of the pool

We had a lot of fun!!!

We spent 4th of July at Lake Tyler

I practice being a mommy in preparation for my little brother's arrival

Daddy brings in 29 years with a Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake

A prayer

Dear Matilyn,

I wanted to document your prayer this evening so that we will one day look back on it and laugh. Who am I kidding, I was was laughing as the words were coming from those sweet lips.

Dear Jesus. Thank you for mommy-keep me safe-sleep good-wake up happy morning. Jesus Christ. Mommy Daddy check on me. Leave the light on. Door open. Amen.

Matilyn Moment

While driving in the car yesterday, from the backseat Matt and I heard "hey everybody! look at me".

Today, Matilyn was in another room and walks in to me and says:
Matilyn: Wha'd you say?

Me: I didn't say anything.

Matilyn: Oh, did you toot?

Me: No. I didnt toot. *insert laughter*

Matilyn's Prayer Tonight

Mommy: "Dear Jesus"

Matilyn: "Dear Jesus"

Mommy: "Thank you for Mommy".

Matilyn: Thank you for Mommy"

Mommy:"Thank you for Daddy"

Matilyn: "Thank you for Daddy"

Mommy: "Thank you for Jesus"

Matilyn: "Thank you for Jesus"

Mommy: "I love you"

Matilyn: "I love you"

Mommy: "Amen"

Matilyn: "Amen. What 'bout Mimi?"

Mommy: "Thank you for Mimi"

Matilyn: "Thank you for Mimi"

Mommy: "Amen"

Matilyn: "Amen"

Hurt Feelings

It hasn't ALL been sunshine and roses in the Curtis home. My sweet little girl is turning in to a stubborn little toot! I can hardly believe it every morning when I go in to get her from her bed and the first thing she says to me is, "where daddy go?" Now a few months ago when this started it was funny, but now...NOT SO FUNNY! I mean after all, I spent 24 hours in labor with her, I wipe her bottom and kiss her boo boo's and this is the THANKS I GET!!
In and attempt to allow her to right her wrong, the last two mornings I have suggested she say "good morning mommy" after she has finished questioning where her favorite "go". Her response was silence. After I gave her a few minutes to think about what she had done, I returned and asked if "she was ready to be nice to mommy", her response was "no". I clearly thought she had misunderstood the question, so I repeated "are you ready to be nice to mommy", to which she laid face down in her bed. Clearly, I was the one with the misunderstanding!
I wish I could say that this doesn't hurt, but it does. I wish I could say this was a phase, but it's not. I wish I could make her want me, but I can't. Thus, the life of being a mother. And when I called my dear mother to ask her if she could sympathize due to my behavior, she gave me so very sound advice. "Get use to it, it's going to get a lot worse".

It was so funny the other day Matilyn was helping me make Great Grandma's Pancakes, and as she was stirring the batter she referred to it as "Great Grandma's Soup".
